The UK IPv6 Task Force
The UK IPv6 Task Force is leading the migration to the new Internet Protocol, IPv6, for the UK. Participation is open to government, industry, academia, international organisations, and users. The Task Force is an independent, locally self-funded activity associated with leading IPv6 experts and organisations globally, including the European Union IPv6 Task Force.

- Briton appointed chair of Internet Standards body - IPv6 is a priority
Brian Carpenter has been appointed chair of the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) and that he sees IPv6 deployment as one of his priorities for action. The full story is here.
- IPv6 nameservers for .uk
Nominet have announced that they now have a .uk nameserver operating with IPv6 connectivity. This is the first .uk nameserver to be accessible in this way and Nominet are planning to make more of their nameservers similarly accessible in the coming months. This nameserver is ns4.nic.uk and is now accessible by the IPv6 address of 2001:630:181:35::83, as well as the IPv4 address of 194.83.244.131.
- Task Force surveys Internet Protocol use in the UK
The UK IPv6 Task Force is holding an online survey to establish benchmarks on the deployment and awareness of the Internet Protocol. The results will provide key IP Policy metrics as the Internet transitions to the new Internet Protocol IPv6. The Surveys are being organised by the UK IPv6 Task Force participants including major IT industry, professional and user organisations. (Press Release)

11 - 15 October 2004 - 5th ETSI IPv6 Plugtests: ETSI Plugtests Service are organizing interoperability events in all technologies. This year, for the 5th time, they are organising an IPv6 Interoperability event. This will take place from 11 - 15 October near Cannes (south of France). During this Plugtest event, TAHI, IRISA, ENST and G6Test will provide their test expertise, and it will be possible to apply for the IPv6 Ready Logo. NEC is also providing DHCPv6 tests.

The UK IPv6 Task Force held its first public meeting, "IPv6 & the future of the Internet in the UK", on the 16th January 2003 with over 200 attendees. The evening event held at UCL, London included a series of presentations and an informal drinks reception sponsored by Cisco Systems.

The UK IPv6 Task Force also hosted the 2nd meeting of the EC IPv6 Task Force Phase II on the 17th January 2003 at UCL, London. Information from this event is on the EC IPv6 Task Force site.
